1. Abba

This band was created in the city of Stockholm by Agnetha Fältskog, Björn Ulvaeus, Benny Andersson and Anni-Frid Lyngstad. ABBA sold over 375 million records worldwide. They are the best-selling Swedish music artists of all time. Also, ABBA is the best-selling music group from the continent of Europe as well as from outside English-speaking countries.  The name of the group is got from the first letter of each of these members’ names. The Swedish band was very successful commercially in the history of popular music because from 1974–82, their records topped the charts worldwide.

2. Roxette


Trailing behind ABBA on the log is Roxette with estimate sold records (albums and singles) of 75 million copies worldwide. Roxette is a Swedish pop rock band that comprises only 2 members which are Marie Fredriksson, a vocalist, and Per Gessle, a guitarist and a vocalist. The duo started their collaborations in 1986, and they went international in the 80s. The release of the second album, Look Sharp! represented a milestone in their career as the record gave the duo breakthrough. Joyride, their third album, also recorded a great success like Look Sharp! Before the two of them formed the Roxette band, they had established careers as musicians in the country. Roxette is the second best-selling Swedish music group of all time.

3. Ace of Base

They are the third best-selling music artists of all time in Sweden and sold 50 million copies worldwide. Initially, this pop group had members that included Ulf Buddha Ekberg as well as 3 siblings, Jenny Berggren, Malin Linn Berggren and Jonas Joker Berggren.  Between 1992 and 2002, the Swedish band released 4 albums that had combined sales, exceeding thirty (30) million copies worldwide. Their first album, Happy Nation, which was re-issued as The Sign, was among the best-selling debut music albums of all time. It has been certified nine times platinum in America.

4. Avicii

The real name of Avicii is Tim Bergling, who was born on the 8th of September 1989. The Swedish record producer, musician, and DJ is the fourth best-selling Swedish music artist of all time, having sold thirty (30) million records worldwide. He has received 2 nominations for a Grammy Award. He got the first nomination in 2012 for his collaboration with David Guetta on Sunshine, and the second in 2013, for Levels, one of his many songs. Few of Avicii’s popular songs include Wake Me Up, The Nights, The Day, I Could Be the One featuring Nicky Romero.

5. Europe (band)

This is the last band we will look at in this write-up. With estimated record sales of 23 million copies, Europe is the fifth best-selling Swedish music group of all time. The rock band was created in 1979 in Upplands Väsby, with 3 founding members – Joey Tempest, a vocalist; John Norum, a guitarist; Tony Reno, a drummer and Peter Olsson, a bass guitarist. In 1982, Europe had an important breakthrough in this country when they emerged winners of Rock-SM, a televised competition. During this period, it was the first time of organizing the competition.
